Sandon Mayhew – Baritone saxophone
Sandon is one of the top saxophonists and jazz musicians in Idaho and for years was director of the Boise State and College of Idaho Jazz Ensembles. He leads the Boise Modern Jazz Orchestra, co-leads The New Trio Plus and plays with the jazz saxophone quartet, Four. Besides playing with numerous local groups, he has shared the stage and traded solos with such famous jazz artists as Randy Brecker, Gene Harris, Lew Soloff, Richie Cole, Bill Watrous, and Arturo Sandoval. Sandon has an extensive teaching practice and his students consistently win or place in their divisions in competitive solo and ensemble festivals statewide and regionally. Since 2005, he has been an endorsed artist/clinician for the Selmer Saxophone Company and is invited several times a year to present clinics on saxophone and jazz improvisation at local schools.
